District Poonch, one of the most remote districts of Jammu and Kashmir, has managed to establish the first ever transformer bank in the district to facilitate prompt replacement of damaged transformers in any part of the district, reports Scoop News.

The bank has been set up at the Electric Division Poonch store at Potha, Surankote, with 15 transformers provided within 24 hours after the direction by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti.

Poonch officials expect to enlarge the bank by arranging more transformers through available funding mechanism to strengthen the system of replacement of damaged transformers.

The power supply to the district will be additionally improved with the completion of the works on the receiving station at Potha where a 3.15 MVA transformer is being installed.
