China completes world’s largest floating solar power plant

China: The largest floating photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 40 MW has been connected to the grid in the former flooded coal mining region in Huainan, south Anhui province, China.

The central inverter deployed at the floating plant as a turnkey substation integrates the transformer, the inverter and the switch gear transformer, according to the manufacturer Sungrow Power Supply.

The floating plant is located onflooded landwith thewater depthwater rangingfrom 4 to 10 meters, reports PV-Tech.

Floating solar power plants are becoming increasingly popular across the globe due to their ability to reduce water evaporation in many applications, while the cooler ambient air limits the solar panel’s exposure to the ‘temperature coefficient’ which results in performance degradation as ambient temperatures increase.

KRI will supply JYR-20S winding resistance tester for this project.
