1100KV converter transformer


Germany, Erlangen: Together with local partners in China, Siemens will deliver the world's first 1,100 kV converter transformers for the world's largest and first high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission link with a transmission voltage of 1,100 KV DC, located in China.

The 1,100 kV converter transformers, which have a capacity of 587.1 MVA, will be manufactured in Siemens transformer plantsin Germany, in cooperation with its factory for HVDC transformers in Guangzhou, China, the manufacturer said in a statement.

The scope of supply also includes special converter transformers, which can be connected directly to China's 1,050 kV AC grid.

The planned 1,100 kV HVDC transmission link between Changji and Guquan, which is 3,284 km long and has a transmission capacity of 12 GW, will be operated by State Grid Corporation of China(SGCC).
